Senior Living Experience Projects

 

The Mather South - Evanston, IL

Project Description
Phase II of The Mather CCRC project completed January 2012, and replaced the Mather Gardens building with a new 11-story senior residence. The Mather South offers 99 Independent Living apartments and additional amenities, such as a bistro with wine bar, theater, and a wellness center replete with day spa, lounge, fitness, and a 20-meter indoor lap pool. An underground pedestrian corridor (the Gateway Gallery) also completed during Phase II, links the two CCRC buildings.

Mather LifeWays requested a fresh transitional design for the CCRC interiors, with each of the two buildings having a unique aesthetic. Mather South features interior finishes of blue and green, and the decorative lighting is custom companion fixtures to those in Mather North. Repurposed artifacts from The Georgian and Mather Gardens were used as interior architectural details throughout the amenities, and as artwork in the Gateway Gallery.

Rydal Park - Rydal, PA

Project Description
Rydal Park is a CCRC located in the suburbs of Philadelphia. The community originally opened c. 1980, and a major repositioning of the community began in 2008. The repositioned community includes renovated Lobby and Admin Offices; renovated and expanded IL Commons; 208 renovated IL apartments; 31 new IL apartments; a new, state-of-the-art, 5-story Medical Center Addition with 90 SN suites, 24 MS suites, and a connector bridge to the existing facilities; 32 new AL suites; development of an adjacent 32-acre parcel for up to 97 IL townhomes and a clubhouse; a new campus entrance; and much needed additional parking.

Rydal Park's IL and Health Care common areas were designed to be fresh and modern in a transitional style, yet provide residents with a warm, nurturing environment.

Lenbrook in Buckhead - Atlanta, GA

A resident told me, “I have always enjoyed vacationing in fine resorts. Now I feel like I’m living in one. How could it get better than that?”

Project Description
Lenbrook’s common areas were designed to emulate those of a 5-star, luxury resort while providing comfort and senior-friendly functionality for the residents.

The community originally opened in 1983, and was extensively redeveloped during 2005-2009. The redeveloped community (648,444 SF) includes a new 24-story tower comprised of IL commons, 134 IL residences, 60 private rooms, Memory Care, and Skilled Nursing; a new 10,700 SF Wellness Center; and the existing 17-story tower comprised of one renovated floor for new IL commons and executive & marketing offices; and two renovated floors with a new 16-suite Assisted Living Center.

Providence Point - Pittsburgh, PA

Project Description
The “upbeat traditional” aesthetic of Providence Point provides a vibrant, simplified approach to traditional design, which works well in Pittsburgh.

Providence Point’s beautiful 32-acre site is located in the scenic South Hills of Pittsburgh, offering its residents picturesque views of the Chartiers Valley and metropolitan Pittsburgh. The campus is situated adjacent to a government protected 44-acre nature preserve. The gross area of the community buildings is 850,000 square feet, and includes expansive community common areas, 225 IL apartment residences and patio homes, AL common areas and 60 private residences, MS common areas and 20 private residences, and SN common areas and 63 private residences.

The Mather North - Evanston, IL

Project Description
Located on Chicago’s North Shore, The Mather CCRC is within a historic residential district, a few blocks from Lake Michigan. The site was formerly occupied by two older senior residences, Mather Gardens and The Georgian. Phase I of the CCRC project completed in October 2009, and replaced The Georgian with a new 11-story senior residence.  The Mather North offers luxurious amenities, 164 Independent Living apartments, and a Life Centre with 10 Assisted Living apartments, 12 Memory Support suites, and 35 Skilled Nursing suites.

The well-appointed, transitional amenity level of The Mather North features repurposed artifacts from The Georgian, including carved mahogany pilasters, carved mahogany pediments, and a marble mermaid sculpture.

Splendido at Rancho Vistoso - Tucson, AZ

Project Description
Splendido exhibits design creativity in its overall resort / spa-like approach to design for older adults. Like the exterior architecture, the interior common areas of the community were designed with a Southwestern theme.

Splendido is located within a large master-planned community in Oro Valley, an upscale suburb in northwestern Tucson, and features a Commons Building, Spa Building, 50 Villa homes, 196 Terrace apartments, and a Healthcare Building comprised of common areas, 12 Assisted Living suites, 12 Memory Support suites, and 36 Skilled Nursing suites. The community exhibits exceptional views of the Santa Catalina Mountains and Tortolita Mountains, and is one of the first environmentally and socially responsible retirement communities in Arizona.
